IATSE 795 is a union for sports broadcast professionals who live in the San Diego area. We negotiate labor contracts regarding wages, work rules, and grievance procedures. We also provide services to our members by administering health and retirement funds and providing training and education.

About IATSE Local 795

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees was founded in 1893 Our members work in all forms of live theater, motion picture and television production, trade shows and exhibitions, television broadcasting, and concerts. Today, there are more than 375 IATSE locals within the U.S. and Canada. Each IATSE Local functions independently, maintaining their own Constitution and By-Laws, elections, dues structure, membership meetings, and more.

Our Local, IATSE 795 San Diego, is a union for sports broadcast professionals who live in the San Diego area. We are not a crewing company or a booking agent. We negotiate labor contracts regarding wages, work rules, and grievance procedures. We also provide services to our members by administering health and retirement funds and providing training and education.

Benefits of Joining IATSE 795

Membership in local 795 gives you a voice. Only members are allowed to participate in contract negotiations, vote on Collective Bargaining Agreements, elect the local union leadership, and serve as union stewards or union officers. We encourage all qualified freelancers to let your voice be heard by becoming a member of Local 795.

Membership or registration in our Local identifies you as an experienced professional who is capable of performing your job at the highest level. IATSE 795 publishes a referral list of our approved broadcast professionals quarterly to crewing companies that hire for union jobs in San Diego. All IATSE signatory crewers are required to hire workers from our eligible hire list first, before looking elsewhere. To get your name on this list, you must be a full member of IATSE 795 or be registered with us as a non-member.

All of the employers who have signed the local 795 CBA (collective bargaining agreement) - our contract - have agreed to give preference of employment to the technicians who are on the Local 795 Referral List.
